[Action, 2/23/16, morning]

[Ten days have passed, and they still haven't talked about it.

It's understandable, really. Between the Project L.U.C.Y. thing that Karkat had been in no way curious about, the move from Violet City to Goldenrod, and the plethora of new and exciting ways he'd discovered that being a human sucked, it'd been easy to find reasons not to have this conversation. He had enough on his nutrition plateau without ruminating on whether Dave's poker face seemed more forced than usual, or if the bags under his eyes (and shades) were growing any darker, and then with how fucking disastrously their last discussion about had gone... yeah. It was better just not to go there.

With life settled into something of a routine, though, the signs are as blatant as all the ones Karkat should have seen back on the meteor. He has enough experience with sleep deprivation to recognize it in others even without the fact that he and Dave are sharing a room to save money (seriously, fuck Goldenrod), and then with the state his best friend had been in yesterday and how he has yet to fucking turn up this morning... had Karkat just been fooling himself in thinking that Dave might be fine when he'd left earlier that morning? Probably.

Somehow resisting the urge to beat his fragile human skull against their door, Karkat glances once more down the hall to make sure that no one else is loitering around before letting himself inside, and... yep, Dave is still in bed. He looks like he's asleep, but who even knows anymore.]

... Hey, asshole. Don't make me come over there and kick you; you know I'll fucking do it.

[Or. Probably will. Maybe. Not just this moment, though; shutting the door behind him and flicking on the light as obnoxiously as possible will have to do.]
